01 · Eligibility
Who can use Maison.
These terms are an agreement between you and Qubus Ltd, the company that operates Maison.
Anyone may visit the public website. To create or use a Maison app account, you must be a student aged 18 or over. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet both requirements and agree to these terms.
02 · Your account
Your account and details.
- Your displayed name. You may use a first name, nickname or chosen name.
- Your account information. Your date of birth, student status and university email must be accurate.
- Your login. Keep your login details secure and do not give anyone else access to your account.
- Unauthorised access. Email Maison Support if you think someone else has accessed your account.
03 · Acceptable use
What you cannot do.
You must not:
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse another person;
- share anything unlawful, explicit, harmful or deliberately misleading;
- spam students, agents, landlords or property managers;
- scrape, copy, reverse engineer or attack the service;
- bypass verification, safety, access or usage controls;
- use Maison for anything outside student group formation and home finding.
We may restrict, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, misuses the service or creates a safety or security risk.
04 · The service
What Maison provides.
Maison provides tools for students to meet, form groups, shortlist homes, vote, send property enquiries and see agent replies together. Maison does not choose a housemate or home for you.
Property information may come from agents, landlords or other external sources. It can change, and Maison does not guarantee that a property is available, suitable, reserved or described correctly.
When your group sends an enquiry, Maison passes the relevant group and property information to the agent. Replies can come back to the whole group through Maison.
Maison is not a letting agent, landlord or party to your tenancy. Any agreement you make with a housemate, agent, landlord or other business is separate from your agreement with Maison.
05 · Content and enforcement
Content, reports and accounts.
You are responsible for the profile details, messages, photos and other content you add to Maison. Only share content you have the right to use.
You still own your content. You give Maison permission to use it only where needed to operate the service, show it to the people you choose, send an enquiry, provide support or investigate a report.
Reports and blocks
You can report a person or photo and block direct contact. We may review reports and remove content, restrict features, suspend an account or close it where needed. Blocking does not hide the fact that someone is already a member of your current group.
Deleting your account
Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you cannot access the app, use our account deletion page. Deletion removes ordinary account and product data, with limited safety records kept as explained in our privacy policy. Deleting Maison does not cancel any deposit, offer, contract, rent or tenancy.
06 · Liability and legal terms
Responsibility and the law.
Availability and changes to Maison
Maison is free and still developing. We may add, change or remove features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We will provide Maison with reasonable care and skill.
Our responsibility
We are responsible for loss caused by our breach where the law says we are. We are not responsible for losses we could not reasonably foresee, or for agreements and decisions between you and another person or business.
Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.
Privacy and cookies
Our privacy policy explains how we use personal data. Our cookie policy explains the website cookies and controls.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will update the date at the top. We will tell registered users before a significant change takes effect.
Which law applies
The laws of England and Wales apply to these terms. The courts of England and Wales can hear disputes, unless consumer law allows you to bring a claim elsewhere.
