Terms of use

Last updated: 31 July 2026

These terms explain the basic rules for using Maison. Maison is operated by Qubus Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Maison website or the Maison app, you agree to these terms.

Who Maison is for

Maison is built for students who want to form or complete a house group and look for homes together. You must provide accurate information when you create an account, join a group, vote on homes, or send an enquiry.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account. If you think someone else has access to your account, contact us at dev@joinmaison.app.

Using Maison properly

You agree not to misuse Maison or interfere with other people using it. In particular, you must not:

We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules, create safety risks, or misuse the service.

Groups, homes and decisions

Maison helps students coordinate group formation, preferences, property shortlists, votes and enquiries. The decisions your group makes are your responsibility. You should check important information yourself before relying on it, including rent, fees, availability, tenancy terms, property condition and move-in dates.

Maison may show property information, group readiness, decision signals and enquiry status to help your group coordinate. We do not guarantee that a property is available, suitable, reserved, or accurately described by a third party.

Letting agents and third parties

When your group chooses to send an enquiry, Maison may send relevant group and property information to the letting agent or property contact. Replies may be brought back into Maison so the group can see the same next step.

Letting agents, landlords, property managers and external websites are not controlled by Maison. You are responsible for checking who you are dealing with before paying money, signing documents, or sharing sensitive information.

Safety and renting checks

Maison is not a substitute for legal, financial, tenancy or safety advice. Before paying money or signing a tenancy, you should carry out your own checks. This includes viewing the property where possible, verifying the agent or landlord, reading the tenancy agreement, keeping written records, and confirming deposit protection.

For more practical guidance, read our BeSafe guide.

Content you provide

You remain responsible for the information, messages, photos, preferences and other content you provide in Maison. You give us permission to use that content as needed to operate the service, show it to the people it is intended for, process enquiries, provide support, investigate reports, and improve Maison.

You must only upload or share content that you have the right to use and that does not infringe someone else's rights.

Availability of the service

Maison is still developing. We may change, pause, remove or limit parts of the service as the product improves. We aim to keep Maison reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability where the law does not allow it. Subject to that, Maison is provided on an "as is" basis and we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost opportunities, property decisions, tenancy outcomes, third-party conduct, or information supplied by agents, landlords, property managers or other users.

Privacy

We handle personal data in line with our privacy policy and use cookies in line with our cookie policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Maison develops. We will update the date at the top of this page when we make changes. If a change is significant, we may also notify registered users by email or in the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, unless consumer law gives you a right to bring a claim elsewhere.
